The Fast Show 2015 was a massive affair, possibly even the biggest ever and as always it proved to be the ultimate way to kick off the show season.
Despite Saturdays chilly conditions, it was great to see so many of you braving the cold and coming in for the Saturday Night Special and making a weekend of your trip. The track was rammed all day long with some incredibly quick cars and bikes from all sorts of different manufacturers. Martin Hill made one of his quickest passes ever in the FireForce 3 Jet Funny Car and Bobby Wallace rounded off the day in his Nitrous assisted Pro Modified Willys running a stunning 7.1 seconds in the pitch black. The Gymkhana competition also got going on the Saturday and it was runs aplenty for everyone who took part, giving them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the course and get their times down as low as possible. Multiple time winner Dmitrij Srybnyj came out head and shoulders above everyone else with a blistering time set on Saturday that wasn’t beaten even though there was a session on Sunday too.
Once the track was shut, everyone descended on the N20 nightclub where Ramshackle and some scantily clad dancers kept the tunes pumping and the entertainment going into the early hours.
Luckily we awoke to glorious sunshine on Sunday morning and it quickly became apparent that we were in for a big one. We must say a huge thanks to all of the clubs who made the extra effort to get in especially early and avoid the queues because that helped our traffic flow no end. Before long the site was filled in all areas, the trade area was booming, the club displays were shining and the eager show & shiners were in buffing their vehicles. The track opened up nice and early and yet again we had another day filled with ¼ mile action.
The Autoglym Show & Shine paddock was booming all day long and reached capacity early in the day. As always, there were many arguments throughout the judging process with many differing opinions so congratulations to the final winners that the judges almost agreed on:

The Jap and FWD Drag Series were first up for the first of their qualifying passes. Glenn Robson led the way from Guy Chamberlain at the end of qualifying for the Competition Clutch FWD drag series with those being the only 2 able to get into the 9 second zone on this occasion. Guy was the only one able to repeat this form in eliminations but it was Glenn who took the event win after meeting Guy in the final as Guy was unable to hold the car on the line and therefore left before the lights ran.

Meanwhile in the Millers Oils Jap Drag Series we had 2 of the field into the 8 second bracket in qualifying with David Greenhalgh leading the way from Mark Moseley as Mark returned to the series. Unfortunately for Mark it wasn’t a triumphant return as he red lit in the first round and Jeff Ludgate and David Greenhalgh proceeded to the final. This saw one of the closest side by side races of the weekend as Jeff got the jump on David off the start line but David clawed it back to win by 0.02 of a second at the stripe.

Richie Don and friends kept the main stage alive throughout the day with a special guest appearance from MC Lynchy all the way from Ireland. The Miss Fast Show competition added a little bit of entertainment from the females to proceedings as they were the ones in the spotlight as they fought for the annual crown. Well done to joint winners, Courtney McDonald and Steph Hoadley who walked away with one of the nice new Santa Pod trophies, £100 richer.

The Live Action arena featured a couple of Santa Pod veterans in the form of Lee Bowers and the legend that is Terry Grant. These two kept the crowds entertained on 2 and 4 wheels respectively with some tyre burning, jaw dropping stunts. For the first time they were joined by Ms Michelle Westby in the Santa Pod Raceway drift car as she demonstrated some professional drifting. It was also great to see so many of you take advantage of the drift passenger rides that were also available, hopefully a few of you were hooked by the adrenaline!
All in all it was an awesome day so thanks to everyone that came along to enjoy it with us, especially the clubs who make the show what it is today. If you enjoyed this weekend then be sure to check out Ultimate Street Car on the 31st July – 2nd August at www.ultimatestreetcar.com.
Keep up the good work with your cars and we’ll see you all soon!
