The first performance and modified car show of the season kicked off 2007 in style, as thousands of eagerly awaiting people flocked to the Pod from all over the country.

Envy Supra Track Action Jet Car

As usual for this time of year the weather wasn't looking promising, but sure enough luck was on our side and the sun came out over a busy and exciting show. The RWYB event held on the 24th presented many people with a diamond opportunity to make a weekend of it, and this was evident from the busy camp site.

On the Sunday there were masses of modified, tuned, and spectators cars alike pouring through the gates as soon as they opened. The variety of cars on display throughout the day satisfied everyone, with most genres of vehicle being represented at the event.

Off track there was plenty of action throughout the day! The Autoglym Show & Shine paddock saw a great variety of very high pedigree cars entering, all gleaming, and emaculate. Not a minute would pass without a flash of a camera reflecting of off highly polished paintwork. There were eight different categories for the judges to pick, and the competition was very close. The winners of the Show & Shine competition, and recipients of a gleaming trophy and Autoglym products were all worthy winners:

Best of Show

Inti Van Ritchie - Peugeot 206

Inti's 206 was the most complete car in the competition, with every detail inside and out modified to perfection. The tangelow and graphite pearl theme is pulled off throughout the entirety of the car. Whether it be the sparkling exterior, amazing fibreglass install, like-new leather interior, or the gleaming engine bay, this 206 has been graced with Inti's style and influence. The spec list for this car is huge, but to name a few of the amazing modifications this car has had: Full Toxic II body kit with smoothing over the entire car, arch filling 19" Budnik Sweeper rims, airbag suspension for front, back, and side to side movement, a beastly 206 180 engine conversion, and an interior you would quite happily eat your dinner off of! Overall Inti's 206 was a well deserved winner of the Best of Show award.

Best ICE

Richard Hilton - Honda Civic

Ric's Civic is smoother than an egg and practically sits its bodywork on the floor, but what really caught the judges attention was the ICE to be found inside! Not only does Ric have an in-car PC, controlled by a PSP mounted in his steering wheel or a dash mounted touch screen TV, he also has 12 Vibe 10" Subs in a custom built 'Wall' for explosive bass and body work shaking vibrations!

Richard Hilton

Best Interior

Dave Collier - Peugeot 205

Dave's 205 has eye-catching paintwork, a big custom intercooler, and an interior to be proud of. This 205 features red and cream leather throughout, with Momo accessories to compliment the theme. The back seats feature an impressive custom speaker build wrapped in leather, and a polished chrome rollcage that glistens cheekily in the light. The dash has been fully colour coded and even has some custom airbrushing on show for all to see. The doors have also been kitted out with speaker builds and colour coding.

Best Engine

Doug Walls - Astra VXR

Doug's VXR was so clean it looked like it had came straight out of the showroom and into the competition, but the Astra's engine is what caught the judges eyes. The engine bay was immaculate, with blue hoses and hard pipes to match the exterior and a polished chrome strut brace. Amongst the modifications Doug has made to his VXR's engine, the colour coded Dbilas forced induction catches the eye.

Best Retro

Robert Montrose - Ford Escort

Robert's black Escort Cosworth was one of a few retro cars that entered the competition. Robert's immaculate car features gleaming black paintwork, white Montysport alloys, Sparco racing bucket seats, and an impressive engine bay with a turbo to put a grin on your face. Overall this worthy retro beauty deserved the award it received.

Best Wheels

Jerome Saunders - Ford Crown Vic

Jerome's Crown Vic is a car that has to be seen to be believed! Quite how he managed to squeeze his huge 24" chrome rims into the arches of the Ford baffled the judges. Featuring an immaculate interior and tidy boot setup, Jerome's car sat above every other car in the show with wheels that just blew away the competition.

Best Paint

Suki Yuen - Toyota Yaris

Suki's Yaris drew a huge crowd with the lambo doors up and the tunes thumping from the sound system. The Yaris' highly polished Fuchsia Pink paintwork really attracted the judge's attention, with some amazing custom airbrushing blended into the theme of the car. The bonnet of the car features an airbrushed cartoon girl and Chinese symbols, and is accompanied by airbrushed mermaids on both doors and the smooth boot. The paintwork on this car certainly stood out from the crowd and was certainly worthy of its award.

Most Radical

Clare Scott - Ford Escort RS Turbo Cabriolet

Clare's Escort Cab is unlike any other. With 20" Asanti Alligator rims squeezed into super wide arches and amazingly vibrant Cobalt Blue paintwork, this car was deservedly crown the Most Radical in the competition. Clare's car also featured 4 tailpipes exiting through the boot, two bucket seats upfront with a matching single bucket in the back, and one off, home made, colour coded rear lights and front light panel!

The drift arena was a massive hit, with the pro drifters doing what they do best throughout the day, gliding sideways while the rear wheels spin madly as the tyres are thrashed to exstinction! Even some of the lucky spectators got to experience the unique and exciting driving style, as the pros took them for a spin.

The handling circuit proved a challenge to all, with members of the public and pro drifters alike putting their driving skills to the test around the laid out course of cones. The competition was close but the winner; James Birch in his Vauxhall Corsa, can be very proud of his acheivement.

Stunt Driver Terry Grant was on hand to wow the crowds and perform amazing logic defying stunts in front of thousands of spectators both on and off the track!

This year their was a Best Club Stand award up for grabs, with the winning club taking home a trophy and all bragging rights. The entertainment on Live Stage came from the Renegade dancers, an exciting Wet T-Shirt competition, and music from DJ Pedro Fernandez & Blag. Over in Fuelers bar there was Pole Dancing and The Blood Brothers were providing their unique form of comic entertainment.

Miss Fast Show

Also being judged on the Live Stage was the Miss Fast Show competition. Lovely ladies from around the country tried their best to impress the crowds, but in the end there could only be one winner. Congratulations to Suki Yuen on becoming Miss Fast Show 2007!
